About Our Story

Welcome NKST Mission Services

A Brief History

The Missionaries arrived Tivland at Sai Village on the 17th April, 1911. This date marks the historical advent and development of Christianity in Tivland and is remembered yearly to celebrate the unfolding nkst of God on the most populous tribe in the Middle belt of Nigeria. It is said that it was because of the Central location, population, language and lack of strong religion that God in His wisdom destined the Tiv tribe where He would firmly establish a strong Reformed Church which would have significant effect of the “great commission” not just on Nigeria but beyond the shores of Africa. NKST was formerly established as an autonomous self-supporting, self-governing and self-propagating church on January 9th, 1957. Immediately, NKST swung into full scale missionary work establishing the NKST Mission Board in 1975 to handle the Missionary activities of the Church.

An Overview: The Mission, Vision and Development Plan

The NKST Mission have established Mission Stations in the 36 States of the Federation/Abuja the FCT and abroad. For years now, this work of missions and evangelism is aided by the NKST Consistories and some kind spirited individuals. This led to the formation of a Mission Support Group known as the NKST Mission Friends to supplement the facilitation of NKST Mission work.

Recent Call for Help!

Some mission stations needed funds for the building of their worship places and development, like Sokoto, Birnin-Kebbi, Gusau, Masaka, New-Nyanya, Minna, Aladja-Warri, etc. We have been given in some places vast land like in Shobowale – Abeokuta, Ogun State and Igede, Oju LGA but there are no funds for development

The Fulani/Jukun crisis and internal strife in Benue, Taraba and Nasarawa States have destroyed almost half of the NKST Churches. The Mission Budget (Quota) from these churches is not met for over three years now. Coupled with the effect of Covid-19 which began 2019, Naira Redesign in 2023; and recently Fuel Subsidy removal, the Mission field staff is owed up to the tune of Thirty Six Million Naira,

All this while, the NKST Mission Director has no apartment. The Mission Director is housed at the former NKST Teachers’ College, Mkar Quarters which has been given to the University of Mkar, Mkar As the University is growing and their housing need is also growing rapidly, there is urgent and every need to build a House for the Director.

The Mission Department needed to have at least an Evangelism Van and 4Wheel Drive vehicle for the office of the Director to facilitate supervision of work for the Mission Centres that are scattered all over the states in Nigeria and beyond, many of which are in the hinter lands.

Some of our mission stations especially outside of the country like Chad, Cameroon, Ghana, etc and those we have started newly in Cotonou, Port-novo and Parakou in the Republic of Benin have been temporary closed down for obvious reasons.
